A Greater Applegate (AGA) is the community-building organization serving the Applegate Valley. AGA’s work is guided by local residents who are encouraged to voice their needs, resources, and perspectives through a variety of means: surveys, listening sessions, and outreach events. A Greater Applegate is a place where community values, community vision, and community voices lead to community action.

The Applegate Valley is defined geographically by the Applegate River. The river’s headwaters flow from the Siskiyou Mountains of Jackson County to its confluence with the Rogue River in Josephine County. Numerous tributaries define the various Applegate Valley “neighborhoods”—including Little Applegate, Upper Applegate, North Applegate, Carberry Creek, Humbug Creek, Sterling Creek, Thompson Creek, Provolt, Williams, Wilderville, and others. Neighborhoods along each of these tributaries are both distinct and part of the larger Applegate Valley community.

Check out Applegate Valley Connect for all that’s happening around Applegate Valley! Add your business, event, news story, or job posting to help increase information sharing and access in our community.

The AGA Board of Directors meets the 4th Monday of every other month (January, March, May, July, September, November) from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Meetings are held at the AGA Office. Community members and groups are welcome to observe a meeting or make a short presentation with advance notice. Please contact Megan at [email protected] if you are interested in attending.

It’s very rewarding to unite good people in a community. The effort to keep people focused on the end goal and the ensuing benefits of working together is a big job. I wish you all the best and I’m proud to be a member of this fine organization.

A Greater Applegate recognizes that the Applegate Valley consists of unique layers of diversity, culture, history, life experiences, generations, socio-economic statuses and differing access to resources.  Our community represents a wide spectrum of opinions, thoughts and beliefs.  We acknowledge that the work of rural community building encompasses more than any one of these viewpoints.

We commit to accessible, inclusive programs, engagement and outreach that serves our community and supports the livability of our environment.  The AGA Board and Staff is committed to annually revisiting, renewing and reintegrating the current realities in this living statement.
